Language Buddy Project Partners Gather in Thessaloniki for Final Transnational Meeting and International Conference.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thessaloniki, Greece \u2013 9 September 2026<\/strong> \u2013 Partners of the Proyecto Language Buddy<\/strong> gathered in Thessaloniki for a full day dedicated to reviewing the project\u2019s progress, sharing implementation experiences and discussing how its outcomes can be sustained beyond the project period.<\/p>\n

The day began with the Transnational Project Meeting at the University of Macedonia<\/strong>, the project\u2019s lead partner. Representatives from the participating organisations reviewed the status of the project and the progress achieved across the relevant work packages. Partners also reported on implementation in their respective countries, providing an opportunity to exchange experiences, identify key lessons and discuss issues related to sustainability and the continued use of the project\u2019s results.<\/p>\n

Representing Advenio eAcademy<\/strong>, Mr. Stephen D\u2019Alessandro, Executive Director, and Mr. James Scerri, Coordinator for Systems and Projects<\/strong> took part in the Transnational Project Meeting held at the University of Macedonia, where partners reviewed project progress, shared country-level results and discussed sustainability and the continuation of project outcomes. During the afternoon International Conference, Mr. James Scerri and Ms. Kristina Maria Abela from SOS Malta were responsible for presenting the results and implementation experience of the Language Buddy Project in Malta<\/strong>, highlighting the activities carried out locally and Malta\u2019s contribution to the wider project objectives.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the Language Buddy Final International Conference<\/strong>, held at the Nikolaos Germanos Conference Center at the Thessaloniki International Fair<\/strong>. The event welcomed more than 80 guests, project partners and stakeholders and provided a platform to present the project\u2019s results, implementation experiences and practical outcomes.<\/p>\n

The conference opened with an introduction to the Language Buddy Project<\/strong> and continued with presentations on the Language Buddy model and system, mentoring practices and implementation experiences. Partners from the participating countries shared feedback on how the buddy system and mentoring approach had been adopted in different national contexts, offering a broader European perspective on supporting language learning among migrant children and young adults.<\/p>\n

The programme also included presentations from three other AMIF-funded initiatives \u2014 ACTIN, TOC (Theory of Change) and CREATE<\/strong> \u2014 providing an opportunity to share complementary experiences and approaches in the field of migrant inclusion and support. A further presentation focused on the Language Buddy mentor experience, adding a practical perspective on how mentoring contributed to the project\u2019s implementation.<\/p>\n

The Thessaloniki meetings<\/strong> provided an important opportunity for partners to consolidate the knowledge and experience developed throughout the project, reflect on lessons learned and reinforce the value of international cooperation. The discussions also highlighted the importance of sustainability, continued networking and the longer-term use of the Language Buddy approach as a practical tool for supporting language learning and inclusion.<\/p>\n
