Award in Meeting Key NGO Challenges (NGO Management)
This module covers issues on sustainable development, legislation and compliance, legal framework, fundraising (With specific reference to provisions for Malta, Cyprus and Albania). It also covers grant proposals, ICT infrastructures and Mobilisation of internal and external resources to achieve organisational goals and objectives .
The 6 sessions included in the module are as follows:
- Sustainable Development: Concepts and Perspectives
- Malta NGO Legislation and Compliance
- Legal Frameworks for Operation of an NGO
- Fundraising, Grant Proposals and Fund Diversification
- ICT Perspectives
- Resource Mobilisation
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the responsibility and autonomy to:
a) Review the need for an effective Board of Directors or Governors.
b) Collaborate in Board and Committees of an NGO.
c) Review changes in the organisation based on the ‘Voluntary Organisation Act and Schedules’ in Malta or the corresponding legislation in Cyprus.
d) Ensure the Fiscal Obligations of an NGO in Malta or Cyprus, considering the provisions of ‘Voluntary Organisation Act’ or the corresponding legislation in Cyprus.
e) Review the of Fundamentals of fundraising for NGOs.
f) Develop Grant proposals for NGO organisation.
g) Implement plans for Fundraising from general public.

Assessment Methods:
- Assignment / Case-Study – 1 (Contributes towards 50% of the module)
- Forum Discussions – 2 (Contributes towards 30% of the module)
- Tutorial Participation – 2 tutorial sessions (Contributes towards 20% of the module)
Participants need to achieve an aggregate of 50% marks from the assessment activities to pass the individual modules. Pass marks (50% or above) in all 5 modules is mandatory for the successful completion of Award in NGO Management (10 ECTS) programme.
