The AMIF Language Buddy Programme achieved an important milestone with the successful conclusion of the Interim Project Partner Meeting on the 3rd and 4th of July 2025 in Malta. Organised by Advenio eAcademy and held at Blackley’s Business Centre, the two-day event saw delegates from all 16 consortium members come together face-to-face (and online) to review and reflect on the project’s achievements and plan for the next stages of implementation.
The meeting included discussions on the ongoing online course intake for the HEI student mentors and on the planning of the future mentoring phase, where trained students will be in direct contact with young migrant learners tutoring them in their language development and integration.
Key topics discussed included:
- Feedback from current course participants
- Timing and logistics of the next round of mentorship
- Agenda for long-range sustainability for the project
- Cross-border cooperation and communications with partner organisations
The event was an excellent opportunity to build and develop working relationships between the partner organisations from the eight participating countries. Most of the partners organisations were represented in person and the on-site meetings provided a forum for dynamic and collaborative discussions based. Arrangements were made for the online participation of partner organisations that could not send representatives to Malta for the meeting. This ensured a full representation of all project partners in the meeting.
The Language Buddy Programme, co-financed by the European Union through the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), seeks to promote intercultural dialogue and social inclusion, by bringing together higher education students and young migrants between 12 to 17 years old. A language acquisition and confidence-building project is supported through mentorship and social integration.
This gathering further demonstrated the dedication of all in attendance to create an inclusive, creative, and effective learning environment for mentors and mentees all over Europe.
