Advenio eAcademy Malta

International Student Support

Welcome to Malta – Your Study Abroad Destination

At Advenio eAcademy Further and Higher Education Institution, we welcome students from around the world who wish to join our accredited blended and online learning programmes. We are interested in supporting genuine students in their efforts to upskill and get European qualifications. Applicants need to be ready to commit to the programmes and to dedicate time and effort to study and complete the relevant coursework. This document provides essential information for non-EU/EEA international students who are planning to relocate to Malta for part of their studies.

If you are a non-EU/EEA national and plan to attend in-person sessions in Malta through one of our blended learning programmes, you will need a National Long-Stay Visa (Type D). This visa is required for any study period exceeding 90 days.

Before attending the visa appointment, applicants should ensure that they have prepared all the documentation required by the Central Visa Unit (CVU). This generally includes:

  • Valid passport
  • Official Enrolment Letter issued by Advenio eAcademy
  • Proof of tuition fee payment
  • Medical and travel insurance
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Evidence of sufficient financial resources
  • Flight itinerary (where applicable)

You are required to pay the visa authorities an appointment booking fee via a credit card (Eur150* according to the Student VISA Checklist – CVU) when booking your appointment online. You will then have to settle with the authorities a further Eur150* (VISA Appointment Booking Letter – CVU) when you visit the VAC office for your appointment.

Visa application fees are established by the Central Visa Unit (CVU) and the authorised Visa Application Centres (VAC). Applicants should consult the relevant Visa Application Centre in their country for the latest applicable fees before booking an appointment.

Please keep in mind that if you miss your VAC appointment, you will forfeit your money and therefore you will have to restart your application and pay the application fee again. Advenio eAcademy does not charge any fee for its support to students in the visa application and processing stage.

*The prices listed above are subject to change according to the Central Visa Unit

Important

Students are encouraged to submit their TRC application as soon as possible after arriving in Malta and to ensure that all supporting documentation is complete and accurate. Holding a valid Student Temporary Residence Card is essential for maintaining legal residence in Malta and is a prerequisite for international students wishing to apply for permission to work part-time in accordance with Maltese legislation.

The primary purpose of the Student Temporary Residence Card is to allow international students to pursue their studies. Part-time employment is intended to complement the educational experience and must never interfere with the student’s academic responsibilities.

International students holding a valid Temporary Residence Card (TRC) may apply for a work permit to work part-time (up to 20 hours per week). Work is only permitted after 90 days of residency in Malta, and employers must apply for the permit through Jobsplus. Students must not begin employment until all required approvals have been granted. More information: https://jobsplus.gov.mt/find-candidates/non-eu-nationals-tcns

Working hours.

International students are generally permitted to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic period, subject to the applicable Maltese regulations and the conditions of their employment authorisation. Students are expected to organise their work commitments in a manner that allows them to attend lectures, complete coursework and maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout their studies.

Important Information.

Working without the required authorisation, commencing employment before obtaining the necessary approvals, exceeding the permitted working hours, or failing to comply with Maltese immigration and employment legislation may result in administrative action by the competent Maltese authorities. This may include penalties, the refusal or revocation of residence rights, or other immigration measures that could affect the student’s ability to remain in Malta. Advenio eAcademy strongly advises all international students to ensure they fully comply with the applicable regulations before accepting any employment.
