Advenio eAcademy Launches Language Buddy Initiative in Malta
Advenio eAcademy, in collaboration with its consortium partners, proudly announces the successful launch of the Language Buddy Project (Project ref: 101141117) under the EU-funded AMIF initiative. This transformative program is designed to support the integration of migrant children and young adults through innovative language mentoring initiatives delivered by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across partner countries.
About the Language Buddy Project
Funded by the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund (AMIF), the Language Buddy Project aims to bridge educational and social gaps for migrants by fostering connections between HEI students and migrant mentees. Through a combination of training, mentorship, and hands-on language learning activities, the project addresses the growing need for accessible, effective integration tools for migrants in Europe.
Key Highlights from the Launch Events
The launch events, organized by Advenio eAcademy as the Work Package 3 Leaders, marked the formal introduction of the Language Buddy program across multiple settings:
- Onsite Events at the University of Malta
- Dates: November 4th and 7th, 2024
- Target Group: Primary and Secondary B.Ed University Students
- Participation: 123 students attended.
- Online Launch Events

- Dates: January 7th and January 28th, 2025
- Target Group: HEI students interested in the mentoring program and team members from the AMIF project partner countries.
- Participation: 12 attendees.
Event Agenda Highlights The events provided an overview of the project, including:
- Recruitment and training of student mentors.
- Engagement of migrant youths as mentees.
- Details on the pending accreditation for the Award in Language Buddy Mentoring.
- Registration process for participants and mentees.
- International Workshop planned for May 2025 in Malta.
Feedback from Participants: The events received positive feedback from attendees, who praised the relevance and importance of the program. One participant shared, “The event was very beneficial and well-organized, helping us understand the importance of mentoring in integration.” While onsite engagement required encouragement, online sessions fostered active participation and networking among students.
Looking Ahead: The Language Buddy Project in Malta will proceed with the implementation of the Award in Language Buddy Mentoring Activities (currently undergoing the accreditation process with MFHEA). This will be launched in February 2025 whilst preparations for the upcoming Malta Workshop in May 2025 are already underway. With its focus on inclusivity and integration, the project stands as a beacon of support for migrant communities across Europe.
