Award in Business Simulation for Management Practice

EQF/MQF* Level 6 - *European Qualification Framework/Malta Qualification Framework Accreditation Category: Higher Education Course
  • Description

This Course Module has been designed to give students direct hands-on experience in the design, development, and implementation of business strategies in a competitive environment. The course deals with the concepts of learning through business simulations and prepares students to get the most out of the exercise.

The course module is focused on the simulation of real business environments and the application of tactical and strategic concepts, principles, and methods to the varied sets of challenges faced by a growing organisation in a competitive environment. The programme relies on the use of an internationally acclaimed multi-user business simulation with typically fifteen to twenty thousand users. This online multi-user simulation selected for the core business simulation is SIM Companies which provides a complex set of variables which provide a realistic re-creation of real-world markets and their dynamics. This allows for the integration of the key decision areas of management as a holistic approach to the management of the simulated organisation each student will be involved with. Alternative online games may be used.

The module is based on a team approach and teams will be assigned different online simulated organisations for them to start-up operations or to take over the management of the simulated business and achieve a set of objectives.

The module can be split into the following sessions:
