This course prepares the participants for the challenges in identifying and providing assistance to employees who may be victims of gender-based violence at the place of work or even at their homes.
The programme includes the following two modules:
- What is GBV?
- How to provide support to GBV victims?
Entry Requirements
- Minimum of 1 Year HR experience and direct involvement in HR affairs.
Or
- Minimum of 1 Year work experience in Social Work
And
- Minimum of O-level qualification or school leaving certificate to ensure competence in English language

Overal Course Objetives
By the end of this programme, the learner will be able to:
- Understand the meaning of GBV at the place of work and in a domestic environment
- Identify those who experience GBV
- Understand the context within which perpetrators may be challenged
- Overcome the barriers to reporting GBV
- Address the challenges of intersectionality
- Understand the framework of legislation and policies that apply
- Know about the support services which are available at a national level
- Appreciate the responsibility HR personnel have towards supporting victims of GBV
- Act as catalysts to bring about changes of work culture and attitude to ensure a zero tolerance of GBV
- Develop a plan of action for their organisation to combat GBV at work and provide support to victims of GBV within their organisation.

The Award in Gender Based Violence Support for HR Professionals is delivered entirely online, providing flexibility and accessibility for participants. Assessment Methods
Participants in the Award in Gender Based Violence Support for HR Professionals programme will be evaluated through a combination of assignments, discussions, and tutorial participation. The assessment components are as follows:
- Assignment / Case-Study: One assignment or case study, which contributes 50% towards the overall module grade.
- Forum Discussions: Two forum discussions, contributing 30% towards the overall module grade.
- Tutorial Participation: Attendance and participation in two tutorial sessions, which contribute 20% towards the overall module grade.
Passing Criteria:
To successfully pass each module, participants must achieve an aggregate score of 50% from the assessment activities. Additionally, a pass mark of 50% or above in both modules is mandatory for the successful completion of the Award in Gender Based Violence Support for HR Professionals (2 ECTS) programme.
