Award in Taking a Business online

This module continues to build on the fundamentals of eCommerce and provides students with an overview of the key concepts and fundamentals to take a business online. This module addresses the infrastructure required and getting started, setting the right priorities  before launching an eCommerce business, selecting the right technology for the business, ongoing challenges that an eCommerce business might face, facilitating online transactions, the different online payment methods and systems, and concluding with a practical approach to eCommerce.

This module will cover the following 6 topics:.

3. Selecting the right technology for your business

4. On-going Challenges

5. Facilitating Online Transactions

6. Practical approach to e-commerce

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the following skills:

1. Understand the concepts of eCommerce website in a broad way.
2. Formulate the complete idea for developing a website for the eCommerce website, with focus on good practices.
3. Understand the need for service level agreements in a company.
4. Analyze and solve the risks associated with the cloud service model selected for business.
5. Analyse real-time eCommerce websites using a multidimensional approach: design of content, structures and functionality
6. Develop a complete website to take the business online.

Each module will be assessed based on the following components:

1. Quality of Contributions in Forums: 30%
   • Evaluation of participation and the quality of insights shared in online discussion forums.
2. Quality of Contributions in Tutorials: 20%
   • Assessment of engagement and contributions during tutorial sessions.
3. Assignment/Case Study: 50%
   • Completion and quality of assignments that demonstrate understanding and application of the course material.

Passing Criteria:

• Students must achieve an aggregate of 50% or higher across the three components to pass each module.

Scholarship Schemes for Maltese residents:

• MySkills Scheme: Malta residents are eligible for up to 80% reimbursement, capped at €5,000, subject to eligibility criteria. International students would be able to apply for the MySkills Scheme once they obtain their Student Temporary Residence Card (TRC). (For individual modules only)
• Get Qualified Scheme ( Scheme available for Maltese residents ) – 70% refund of course fee as a tax rebate
