The Award in Essentials of Marketing & Sales is an EQF/MQF Level 5 course accredited with 8 ECTS credits. The course will provide tools and necessary  knowledge and the skill in applying marketing and sales practices which would help grow a business. It is based on current best practices, which we ourselves apply in the consultancy roles in applying management practices in different organisations. Particularly, the course deals with the core concepts of marketing, market research, branding, digital marketing and social media and the sales concepts. The course is delivered fully online over a period of 6 weeks.

Sessions Covered:

Session 1 – Fundamental concepts: Defining Marketing

Session 2 – Fundamental concepts: Perspectives – CDO – B2C, B2B, B2G

Session 3 – Fundamental concepts: Perspectives – Retail, Wholesale, Manufacturing, Service

Session 4 – The Customer Driven Organisation

Session 5 – Managing the Marketing Process: Designing Marketing Research

Session 6 – Managing the Marketing Process: Implementing effective market research

Session 7 – The Marketing Mix and Marketing Plan

Session 8 – B2C – marketing challenges, branding and consumer behaviour

Session 9 – B2B – marketing challenges, relationship marketing and corporate buying behaviour

Session 10 – Digital Marketing and social media

Session 11 – Personal Selling, the art of persuasion, interpersonal communications

Session 12 – Personal Selling, the sales cycle, generation of leads, prospects, customers, clients

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the module/unit the learner will have acquired the following skills:

  1. Apply the marketing mix as a tool to implement the organisation’’s strategy.
  2. Develop a Marketing plan.
  3. Design the Market research methodology for a defined research problem.
  4. Apply B2B and B2C best practices in relationship marketing to win over clients and consumers.
  5. Applying e-business concepts and value creation to analyse e-business models.
  6. Apply best practices throughout the sales cycle.
  7. Integrate sales teams and sales activities within the organisation’s marketing strategies.
  8. Design social media plans. 
  9. Form personal sales ethical standards.

Each module will be assessed based on the following components:

  1. Quality of Contributions in Forums: 30%
    • Evaluation of participation and the quality of insights shared in online discussion forums.
  2. Quality of Contributions in Tutorials: 20%
    • Assessment of engagement and contributions during tutorial sessions.
  3. Research-Based Assignments: 50%
    • Completion and quality of research-based assignments that demonstrate understanding and application of the course material.

Passing Criteria:

  • Students must achieve an aggregate of 50% or higher across the three components to pass each module.

 

Scholarship Schemes for Maltese residents:

  • MySkills Scheme: Malta residents are eligible for up to 80% reimbursement, capped at €5,000, subject to eligibility criteria. International students would be able to apply for the MySkills Scheme once they obtain their Student Temporary Residence Card (TRC). (For individual modules only)
  • Get Qualified Scheme ( Scheme available for Maltese residents ) – 70% refund of course fee as a tax rebate
